Frequently asked questions
Q The course looks really good - how can I find out more?
A Contact us by email or call us on 01702 340315 and we will send you a copy of our prospectus. Alternatively why not come and visit us but do please call us first so that we can arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
Q How long does the course last?
A The professional practitioner diploma courses are spread over 2 or 3years.
Q Do you offer a degree course?
A No. At the present time we do not want to compromise the quality of our course in order to meet the academic criteria that may be required by a university. We believe that the practical vocational type of course that we offer will produce competent, confident graduates who will be able to make a real contribution to the homeopathic profession.
Q What about the new regulations that are coming into force - will it make any difference if I do not attend a college offering a degree course?
A No. There are no additional benefits for attending a degree course. You will still be able to apply for registration with the new registering body. It is the quality of training that is important and we aim to provide you with a course that complies with, if not exceeds the National Occupational Standards (NOS). If you wish to read a full copy of the NOS for homeopathy you can download a copy from the CORH website
Q Is your college accredited?
A No not at this time. We are awaiting the outcome of the new regulations before we apply.
Q What qualifications do I get at the end of the course?
A Upon successful completion of the course you will be entitled to use the letters Dip SCH and will be able to apply to one of the major registering organisations, e.g.ARH for entry onto their professional register.
Q I have heard about classical homeopathy and practical homeopathy - what do you teach and what is the difference?
A Classical or Kentian homeopathy looks at the complete person and a remedy is prescribed accordingly. After the remedy has been taken a time period is left to assess the changes and prescribe again when necessary.
Other methods such as physical generals and layers method still treat the whole picture but sometimes the person's health is so depleted that the symptom picture is not easy to see. In this instance the 'practical' methods can be more appropriate. We never loose sight of the fact that the person needs to be treated as an individual.
Q How often do I have to attend classes?
A We hold our classes one weekend a month, 10 months of each year.
Q Is there any age limit to studying?
A No. We take students over the age of 18 and many are mature students who have decided on a career change.
Q I would love to learn homeopathy but am unsure what qualifications I need.
A We ask prospective students to attend an informal interview to assess their qualifications and we take into account the many life experiences people acquire.
Q Can I come along and see what the classes are like?
A Certainly - we welcome visits from prospective students so that they can determine if the course is appropriate for them. It also offers them the opportunity to talk to other students.
Q Do you have Open Days?
A Yes and no. Rather than tie people in to a specific Open Day, we are happy to welcome anyone who is interested in studying this fascinating topic to join us on one of our college weekends. Please call us to arrange a time and date.
Q What does the four-year part time course cost?
